This policy explains what personal data Carroll Codeworks ("we", "us") collects when you visit our website, get in touch about a project or create an account, why we collect it, and what rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Carroll Codeworks is the data controller for the personal data described here.
1. Data We Collect
Enquiries and projects. When you contact us about a website, we collect the details you send us, such as your name, email address, phone number if you give it, your business name and what you want us to build.
Accounts. If you create an account on the site, we collect your name, email address and password. Your password is stored only in hashed form.
Payments. If you pay us for a website, our payment provider processes the payment. We receive confirmation of the payment but never see or store your card details.
Technical information. When you visit the site, we collect basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type, which keeps the site secure and working. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them (see section 4).
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your information to reply to your enquiry, prepare quotes, design and deliver your website, run any account you create, take payment for our work, and keep the site secure.
We keep a record of sign-in and sign-up attempts, including the email address entered, whether the attempt succeeded and, if it didn't, why, along with your IP address and browser, for security purposes and to fix problems with signing up. Your password itself is never recorded.
Our legal bases are: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract (replying to your enquiry, delivering your website and running your account); our legitimate interests in keeping the site secure and running our business; our legal obligations, such as keeping accounting records; and your consent for analytics cookies, which you can withdraw at any time using Cookie Settings in the footer.
3. Emails
We only email you about your enquiry, your project or your account, and about account security. We don't send marketing emails. If you'd rather we didn't contact you by email, tell us and we'll stop.
4. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in if you have an account, and to remember your cookie choice. We use optional analytics cookies, which are set only after you accept them through the cookie banner, to understand how the site is used.
5. Who We Share Data With
We never sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run Carroll Codeworks, under contracts that require them to protect it: our website hosting provider, our email provider, our payment provider (for payments you make to us), and Google Analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies). We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect the safety of any person.
6. How Long We Keep Data
We keep enquiry and project records for as long as they're needed to deliver and support your project, and for a reasonable period afterwards. Account details are kept for as long as your account exists. Accounting and payment records are kept for as long as the law requires. If you ask us to delete your data, we'll delete or anonymise it unless we need to keep some of it to meet a legal obligation or resolve a dispute.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email admin@carrollcodeworks.com. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
8. Children
Our services are for businesses and adults. You must be 16 or older to create an account, and we don't knowingly collect data from children under 16.
9. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hash all passwords, and limit access to personal data. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know through the site or by email.
11. Contact
